Institutional structure, volume of aid, partner countries
NORAD is the institution responsible for development cooperation, it is a separate agency reporting to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the field NORAD's offices are fully integrated into the embassies. 464 employees are working in the field of development cooperation of which 104 are active in the field offices.
Main partner countries are Afghanistan, the Palestinian Areas, Tanzania and Mozambique, which together received 171 million US$ in 2002 or nearly 10% of funds allocated. The relation of aid volume to GNI further rose from 0,89% in 2002 to 0,92% making Norway ranking top on the list of donors.
